Many of us have experienced this trauma at one point or another in our lives. We’ve either bleached it one too many times or been obsessed with our flat iron or curling iron to the point of destruction. It happens. But what happens after the damage has been done? Is there any coming back from that?
How do you know your hair is damaged in the first place? Damaged hair will experience breakage, a straw-like texture, frizz, and/or difficulty to manage. The first order of business is to invest in a quality moisturizing shampoo and conditioner and hair mask. Also, reducing the frequency of shampoos will be key. Protein treatments are also highly recommended and can be done at a salon. Matrix offers hair shots, which can be beneficial when putting strength back in your hair. Olaplex can also be used as a stand-alone treatment, and many salons offer this option. Using coconut oils or other natural oils can also be beneficial during this time. You should also be wary of styling your hair using heat during this period of reconstruction. Using a Wet Brush or similar brand is helpful to avoid tearing the hair and causing further damage. Even after taking these steps, it may take a little while to see results. If you can’t endure the look of damaged hair, you may opt for a haircut.
In the future, remember there are steps you can take to prevent damage. Going to a hair salon that offers Olaplex when bleaching hair is a big plus! Regular haircuts and minimizing heat styling is another great way to keep your hair in tip top shape. Your hair is also sensitive to the sun, so wearing a hat to protect is from the sun is a plus. When swimming, using a swimming cap is ideal, as pool and ocean water can take a toll on the hair. Taking a multivitamin is also very beneficial. If all else fails, just remember your hair will grow again and we are here to help you get it back in shape!
